Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra to Perform Special Pops Concert March 10

DeKALB, Ill. – The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra invites the community to its Spring Pops Concert on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. This concert is a special add-on performance to its regular 2017-2018 season of events. We are presenting this fun concert at a time of the year when everyone is excited to emerge from the cold,” said Linc Smelser, KSO music director and conductor. “We hope members of the community can join us for a great evening.”

The program will feature a variety of popular music including selections from the Broadway hits Hamilton, by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Wicked, by Stephen Schwartz; classical music including “Spring” from The Four Seasons, by Antonio Vivaldi; “Voices of Spring Waltzes,” by Johann Strauss; “Hungarian Dance No 1,” by Johannes Brahms; and “Suite No. 2” from L’Arlésienne, by George Bizet; music from the movies including Superman, and “Aunt Marge’s Waltz” from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by John Williams. Also on the program are timeless favorites including “Plink Plank Plunk,” “The Syncopated Clock,” “The Typewriter,” and “Fiddle Faddle,” by Leroy Anderson.

Changes in programs, dates, times and location of concerts will be posted on the orchestra’s website. Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to the concert. All seats are general admission. Individual ticket prices are $16 for adults, $11 for seniors 62 and over, and a special discounted price of $6 for students (with a valid school i.d. card), and $6 for children under 12. 

The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit organization supported in part by grants from the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation, the George and Betty Dutton Foundation, the Mary E.
