IVCC Women’s History Month

March 26, 2018

Illinois Valley Community College’s SAGE (Students Advocating for Gender Equality), Student Government Association and Diversity Team are sponsoring Brown Bag Lunch events for Women’s History Month.
A Reader’s Theatre presentation of “The Eve O’Lution of Women, or Eve Through the Looking Glass” will be held from noon to 12:45 p.m. Monday, March 26 in Room CTC124.
Donna Stone and the Drama Mamas will give a dramatic reading that follows the development of women from historic times of Eve in the Bible through the embattled women of the Greek “Lysistrata,” Chaucer’s Wife of Bath from “The Canterbury Tales,” and Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” and into modern times with women from Sheridan’s “The Rivals” and George Bernard Shaw’s “Man and Superman,” finally ending with the woman of the future.
This satirical look at women’s history packs tongue-in-cheek humor into a 30-minute production. The Drama Mamas are led by founder, author, and director, Donna Stone, and include Lisa Gill, Cindy Pollard, Nancy Schell, and Connie Svoboda.
Illinois Valley Community College’s Women’s History Month event “The Women of IVCC” scheduled for Wednesday, March 28 has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. It will be rescheduled for another date.
“‘Nevertheless, She Persisted’: A Presentation of IVCC Students’ Papers Honoring Feminists Whose Persistence Has Paved the Way,” will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, March 30 in Room CTC124.
IVCC students will present researched papers of people whose feminist persistence in their fields has led to greater social justice or exposed more voices to the dominant culture.  Refreshments will be available.
For information, call Dr. Kimberly Radek-Hall at (815) 224-0395.
