OTTAWA – Though unemployment rates nationwide declined, statewide, it remained steady at 4.1 percent. However, according to The Illinois Department of Employment Security, the unemployment rates for both LaSalle and Putnam County has decreased. Currently, LaSalle is at 4.5 percent, nearly a percent decrease and Putnam at 4.2 percent, four tenths of a percent decrease compared to last month. Bureau County remains the lowest unemployment rate locally, at 3.9 percent. Nationwide, unemployment rates dipped even further, coming in at 3.7 percent, two tenth of a percent lower compared to last month.
