LINCOLN LIBRARY'S NEW EXHIBIT
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is opening a new exhibit on the 16th president. "Undying Words: Lincoln 1868-1865" opens to the public on Saturday at noon. The exhibit includes a handwritten copy of the Gettysburg Address, signed copies of the 13th amendment ending slavery and the Emancipation Proclamation, as well as the bed where Lincoln died after being shot at Ford's Theater.
RECCOMMENDATIONS FOR US MARSHAL
U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk of Illinois have recommended to President Barack Obama three candidates to become the next United States Marshal for the Northern District of Illinois. The candidates are the man now holding the job on an acting basis and two suburban Chicago police chiefs. Among the finalists is Joel Kirch. He's the acting U.S. Marshal for the district who has spent a quarter century with the service.
RAUNER WANTS DECIOSION ON PENSION OVERHAUL
Illinois Governor-elect Bruce Rauner says he wants the Illinois Supreme Court to rule "as soon as possible" on whether a landmark pension overhaul violates the state Constitution. A Sangamon County judge ruled Friday the pension fix is unconstitutional. Attorney General Lisa Madigan says the state will appeal to the Illinois Supreme Court.
