OTTAWA - Openings available for Kids Can center
Kids Can Child Development Center at Easter Seals currently has openings for children ages 3 to 5. The center provides full-time and part-time care to children of all abilities to live, learn and play for their maximum potential. PRINCETON- Diabetes Meeting Offered Monthly
Perry Memorial Hospital wants to provide information and support to those who are dealing with diabetes. Each month, on the 2nd Tuesday, Perry has an informational meeting to provide up-to-date guidelines and realistic ways to manage the diagnosis of diabetes. SUBLETTE - "Celebrating 160 Years of Sublette"
Sublettefest will be held Sept. 12 through 14 in downtown Sublette. The schedule of events includes a beer garden, music, 5K Fun Run/Walk, craft/flea market/food vendors, kid's and tegular parade, alumni softball game, OctoberFest food and music, monster fireworks show, "Pullin' in the Park" tractor and truck pull, Sublette schools reunion and more. CORNELL- Cornell Days
Cornell Days will be Friday, Sept. 12- Sunday, Sept. 14. On Friday there will be a Community Hot Dog dinner, Ice Cream Social and Family Movie in Cornell South Park. Saturday, a 5K Run/2 mile walk at 7 a.m., 7-11 a.m. Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at Legion Hall,Softball tournament, Flea Market/Farmers Market, Decorated vehicle parade, The Bull Radio Broadcast, Carriage rides, Kiddie Court at South Park, Amity Township Museum and Library will be open and at 2 a.m. the Cornell Alumni Homecoming. On Sunday, registration for the car show will begin at 9 a.m. at South Park, there will be a Community Church Service at the Grade School Gym with brunch following, and at 3 p.m. the United Methodists' Road Kill Dinner will be at the Firehouse.


SPRING VALLEY- Classic Car Show
To benefit the Spring Valley Historic Association there will be a Classic Car Show for cars dating 1988 & older on Sept. 13. Registration is from 10 a.m.-noon followed by the show from noon-5 p.m. The show will be held between the 100-200 blocks of West St. Paul street, Downtown Spring Valley. There is no registration fee. STREATOR- Reagan Wednesday 5k
The 1st annual Reagan Wednesday 5K Walk/Run and Kids’ Fun Run Event. This event will raise money to help defray the medical costs for the Kuehn family. Reagan has been undergoing treatment for leukemia at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis during the past few years. This event will be held Sept. 13 at LongPoint City Park at 3 p.m. Following the race will be the Kids’ Fun Run and the Cody Calkins Band will begin playing at 4 p.m. then ending our day at 7:00 pm. LASALLE- Vermillion Valley Show Chorus
Vermillion Valley Show Chorus presents Adventure in Paradise: Venues in Revue on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. The show will take place at Stage 212, 700 1st street in LaSalle. MENDOTA - Color fun run set
The first annual 5K Color Me Run Aaron Olsen Memorial Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 9 a.m. Registration will be from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. Registration fee is $30 and is due by Sept. 1, to guarantee a shirt. The run will start and end at the Mendota High School baseball field, and other fun, family activities will be included in the day. LA MOILLE- Music Boosters Breakfast
Music Boosters will hold an All You Can Eat Breakfast at La Moille Lions Club at 308 Howard St. on Sept. 14 from 8-12:30 p.m. The breakfast includes: Pancakes, sausage, eggs, ham, toast, milk, juice and coffee. Adults- $6, Kids (5-10)- $4, Kids under 4- eat free.


EARLVILLE - Circus
Earlville School Grounds will hold a circus to raise funds for Earlville PTA and Earlville EBA. There will be two shows on Monday, Sept. 15 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Elephants, tigers, horses and a cast of international circus stars look forward to entertaining you! Tickets are as follows: adults- $10 in advance, $15 at door; under 12- $6 in advance, $7 at door; under 2 years old- free. OGLESBY- Open House and Communty Health and Safety Fair
Oglesby Lincoln Schools will host their Open House Monday, Sept. 15 from 6:30-8 p.m. Parents and students are welcome to attend and will be able to meet their child's teacher. During the open house the Oglesby Early Childhood program will host their Annual Community Health and Safety Fair. Both events will be at the same time and same night located in the Lincoln School Gymnasium at 755 Bennett ave, Oglesby. The fair is open to public and free of charge. 


PRINCETON- Grief and Loss Support Group
The Bureau Valley Volunteer Hospice Grief and Loss Support Group will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 2:30 p.m. in the Perry Memorial Hospital Chapel. In order to deal with the pain of loss, and work through the grief of losing someone you love, Bureau Valley Volunteer Hospice wants to support you in your journey of remembering and grieving. PERU- IVCH Flu Clinic
Illinois Valley Community Hospital has set dates for five public flu immunization clinics at five locations in September and early October.  IVCH nurses will be giving flu shots:
     Tuesday, September 16, from 3 – 6 p.m. at the Illinois Valley YMCA in Peru.
     Tuesday, September 23, from 9 – 11 a.m. at Liberty Village in Peru.
     Tuesday, September 30, from 1 – 4 p.m. at IVCH in Peru. Enter through the ground level entrance on the east side of the building from the south parking lot.
     Wednesday, October 8, from 2-5 p.m. in the IVCH room at Peru Mall (near the Sears store). In addition to the adult vaccine, pediatric doses will also be available from the LaSalle County Health Department at this clinic only.
     Thursday, October 23, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Illinois Valley Community College.
Flu shots are also available at the IVCH FastCare walk-in clinic, which is open seven days a week at the Peru Walmart. Pneumonia vaccine, which requires a doctor’s order, will also be available at the flu clinics.The fee to receive a flu shot is $30.  Pneumonia shots are $85.  Medicare assignment will be accepted with proof of Medicare Part B eligibility.For more information, call Joan Fernandez at 815-780-4618.


EARLVILLE- Fiber in the Park
Fiber in the Park will be on Sept. 20 form 9-4 p.m. at Shabbona Park in La Salle County, 4165 E. 16th Road in Earlville. Admission is free and there will be 20+ vendors that have all different kinds of fiber, kinds of wool, llama, alpaca in yarns, combed top, roving, batting, kits and a food vendro. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the outdoors at the park. Door prizes will be given out during the day. UTICA - Angel of Hope Fest
The Utica Business Association, August Hill Winery and Team Angels Among Us will host Angel of Hope Fest from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, in downtown Utica. There will be artwork, raffles, food and drinks, plus live music by Howard and the White Boys and Big Uproar. Admission is free but donations encouraged as proceeds benefit Relay for Life.


LASALLE - Family Fun Day
The Illinois Valley Legion Against Legions will hold a Family Fun Day from 12:30 until 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Cedar Point Sportsman Club in LaSalle. There will be bounce houses, a bags tourney, games and music. Food and cash bar will be available. Admission is free.


OTTAWA - WHL Wallace Memorial Event
The WHL Wallace Memorial Event will be held in Ottawa from Friday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 21. On Friday, there will be an open house and presentation at the Reddick Mansion featuring women in the Civil War. On Saturday, there will be sutlers, vendors, food booths open to the public, a luminary program in Washington Park, demonstations by the 17th Corps. Field Hospital, and much much more. Finally, on Sunday, there will be a battle re-enactment, early morning church service, and more! All proceeds go to the restoration and maintenance of the Dickey Cemetery, General WHL Wallace's final resting place. 


OTTAWA- Mansion Open for Homecoming Pictures
The Reddick Mansion Association invites students from Marquette Academy and OTHS to use the gardens and rooms in the Mansion as a backdrop for Homecoming photos. Homecoming-attendees as well as their family and friends are welcome to come as well. For Marquette Academy the Mansion will be open on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 4-6 p.m. and for OTHS on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.There is no charge to take photos during these times. 


SPRING VALLEY- 3rd Annual Golf Scramble
Easter Seals of LaSalle and bureau Counties' 3rd Annual Golf Scramble will be held on Sept. 20 at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 10:30 a.m. There will be a 19th hole party at 6 p.m. at MJ's Pub & Grill. Golf and dinner is $70 per person and dinner only is $20 per person. Hole and Flag sponsorships are available for $100. STREATOR - Vegas Night
Streator Elem. School Dist. 44 Activity Boosters are hosting their second annual Vegas Night on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the PNA Hall at 906 E. Livingston St. in Streator from 6 to 11 p.m.  Tickets are $10, which include food, selected beverages. There will also be games, raffle items and a silent auction. Free amplified phones are available through the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation program (ITAC). Qualified individuals must be legal residents of Illinois, have a doctor’s or audiologist’s signature verifying hearing loss, and have standard phone service in the residence. PRINCETON- Prostate Cancer Screening
Perry Memorial Hospital is offering a prostate cancer screening on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the White Oak Classroom. All men age 50 and above, that are not under the care of an urologist, should be screened. Men age 40 and above with a family history of prostate cancer, and all African-American men starting at age 40 should be screened as well. There is a $25 cost for the PSA blood test. HOLLOWAYVILLE- Annual German Buffet and Country Store
The Hollowayville United Church of Christ is holding it's Annual German Buffet and Country Store on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 11-3 p.m. Donation is $10.00 for teens and adults, $5.00 for children 6-12 years old and children under 5 eat free. PRINCETON- Health Screening Offered
Perry Memorial Hospital is offering a Health Screening on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 6:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the White Oak Classroom. A Lipid Profile test, which includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides will be offered at $25. The following other tests will also be offered: Chemistry Profile for $31, Thyroid-TSH for $23, and Hemogram for $9. All tests except the Hemogram and Thyroid-TSH require a 12 hour fasting. Pre-registration is required. Please bring physician’s name and address to the screening. Tests cannot be completed without this information. Juice and coffee will be available.
