Attention Medicare Beneficiaries! You may qualify for money saving benefits through the Low Income Subsidy and Medicare Savings Programs. Both Programs have income and asset guidelines. LASALLE COUNTY - Satellite Offices

OTTAWA - Blue Star Museum Program 
The Reddick Mansion is offering free admissions to all active duty military personnel and their families through Labor Day, Sept. 1, as part of the Blue Star Museums program. The Blue Star Families is a national, non-profit network of military families from all ranks and services, including guard and reserve dedicated to supporting, connecting, and empowering military families.

PERU - Doin' it for Dan Benefit
The family and friends of Dan Dempsey, a member of the Peru Ambulance Service who was injured in an accident while transporting a patient to Peoria, have organized a benefit called "Doin' it for Dan." The event will take place at the Peru Eagles Club on Aug. 23, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are available at the Peru Eagles Club, Travel Connections, Peru Airport, Cowboy and Tony's, and Peru Ambulance. OTTAWA - Mansion present Introduction to Culinary Herbs
At 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, Reddick Mansion Association will present "Introduction to Culinary Herbs" by Holly Hughes, master gardeners and the "Garden Maiden" columnist for The Times. Hughes will discuss how to identify herbs, when and where to plan various herbs and the ield per plant. Refreshments will be served. Cost is $8 per person and the public is invited. MENDOTA - Grade School Reunion
The Ophir Grade School reunion for all former students (1952-1998) will be held at the Mendota Moose Lodge on Saturday, Aug. 23, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour and followed by a buffet dinner. The reunion also includes a Ecumenical Church Service on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Triumph Church followed by a potluck luncheon at the Triumph Community Building. AMBOY - 4th Annual Depot Days Dash
The Amboy Education Foundation is sponsoring the 4th annual Depot Days Dash on Saturday, Aug. 23, in Amboy. The race begins at 8 a.m. at Amboy High School and ends on North east Avenue in downtown Amboy near the Depot Museum. PERU - Red Cross Walk, Run, Bike
The 22nd annual Red Cross Walk, Run, Bike will be held on Sunday, Aug. 24, at Baker Lake in Peru. Registration begins at 12 p.m., with the event to follow at 1 p.m., and all registered participants will receive a t-shirt. This is a family oriented event that will include food, drinks, raffles, music and outdoor games. Kids can enjoy the Bike Rodeo that offers training and includes a free bike helmet (while supplies last). CEDAR POINT - IVAR fundraiser
Paws, Claws and Hoofs Fundraiser for IVAR will be held from 1 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24, at Gunsmoke Grill on Cedar Creek Ranch. Admission is free, but those who bring an item from IVAR’s wish list on will be entered in to win a grand prize giveaway. There will be controlled horseback rides, games for the kids, music by Ric Soens, plus animals will be up for adoption on site.

LAMOILLE - Volleyball breakfast
The LaMoille Lions Club will host a volleyball breakfast rom 8 a.m until 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24, at the LaMoille Lions Club on Howard Street. The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, ham, toast, milk, juice and coffee. Cost for the all-you-can-eat breakfast is $6 for adults, $4 for kids 5-10 and free to kids 4 and under.

OTTAWA - Bingo for Bridges
Save the date for Ottawa Bingo for Bridges, Sunday August 24, 2014 at the VFW Hall on 1501 LaSalle St. in Ottawa. There will be bingo, a saghetti dinner, and $1,000 in game prizes. PERU - Screening clinic offered
The Northern Illinois Valley Shrine Club of Pery will hold a screening clinic for Shriners Hospitals for Children from 1 until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at St. John's Lutherns Church in Peru. Parents and guardians of children who might benefit from the services provided by Shriners Hospital for Children are invited to this free screening and evaluation clininc. SPRING VALLEY - Pay if Forward golf outing
David Bernabei's Celebration of Life Pay if Forward Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Tickets are $70 each and include all-day green fees, 18-hole cart, prizes, awards and a Stone Jug Barbeque Dinner. Proceeds from the event will go to Cops 4 Cancer, 10/33 Ambulance and Dalzell Fire Department.

PERU - IVCH 5K Now a Starved Rock Circuit Race
The annual Illinois Valley Community Hospital Healthy Choices, Healthy You Fall Fitness 5K will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Washington Park in Peru. Non-competitive walkers are also invited to enter and there will be a free kids’ challenge run following the race. PERU - Library sets fall programs
"Wiggles and Giggles," a progam for children ages 1 to 3, begins Thursday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. Held Thursday mornings, the program introduces the fun of music, movement, finger plays and songs to toddlers. "Story Time" for children ages 3-5 years of age begins Sept. 18, and is held every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the children's department. Children will enjoy stories, sing songs and enjoy explore and learn experiments and crafts. SUBLETTE - "Celebrating 160 Years of Sublette"
Sublettefest will be held Sept. 12 through 14 in downtown Sublette. LONG POINT - Reagan Wednesday 5K Walk/Run
The first annual Reagan Wednesday 5K Walk/Run and Kids' Fun Run Event will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Long Point City Park. Following the race, the Kids' Fun Run will be held and the Cody Calkins Band will play at 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each age division, and money rased will help defray the medical costs for the kuehn familyy, as Reagan has been undergoing treatment for leukemia at St. Jude for years. MENDOTA - Color fun run set
The first annual 5K Color Me Run Aaron Olsen Memorial Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 9 a.m. Registration will be from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. Registration fee is $30 and is due by Sept. 1, to guarantee a shirt. The run will start and end at the Mendota High School baseball field, and other fun, family activities will be included in the day. OTTAWA - WHL Wallace Memorial Event
The WHL Wallace Memorial Event will be held in Ottawa from Friday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 21. On Friday, there will be an open house and presentation at the Reddick Mansion featuring women in the Civil War. On Saturday, there will be sutlers, vendors, food booths open to the public, a luminary program in Washington Park, demonstations by the 17th Corps. Field Hospital, and much much more. Finally, on Sunday, there will be a battle re-enactment, early morning church service, and more! All proceeds go to the restoration and maintenance of the Dickey Cemetery, General WHL Wallace's final resting place.

There will be an electronic collection on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the LaSalle Governmental Complex parking lot.
