PERU- DBSA Support Group
The DBSA (Depression, Bi-Polar, Anxiety, Association) of the Illinois Valley support group meets every first and third Monday of the month on the forth floor in conference room C at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.  If you suffer from these mental disorders we encourage you to attend and you may even bring a friend and or family member with you.  Anything you talk about will be kept in strict confidence.  It is a place to come and share your experiences and ways of comping without being judged. LASALLE COUNTY - Medicare Beneficiaries
Attention Medicare Beneficiaries! You may qualify for money saving benefits through the Low Income Subsidy and Medicare Savings Programs. Both Programs have income and asset guidelines. PRINCETON- Diabetes Meeting Offered Monthly
Perry Memorial Hospital wants to provide information and support to those who are dealing with diabetes. Each month, on the 2nd Tuesday, Perry has an informational meeting to provide up-to-date guidelines and realistic ways to manage the diagnosis of diabetes. There will also be time at each meeting for open discussion and sharing of ideas. Please contact at (815) 876-4449 to register for this meeting.

PERU- IVCH Flu Clinic
Illinois Valley Community Hospital has set dates for five public flu immunization clinics at five locations in September and early October.  IVCH nurses will be giving flu shots:Thursday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Illinois Valley Community College. Flu shots are also available at the IVCH FastCare walk-in clinic, which is open seven days a week at the Peru Walmart. Pneumonia vaccine, which requires a doctor’s order, will also be available at the flu clinics.The fee to receive a flu shot is $30.  Pneumonia shots are $85.  Medicare assignment will be accepted with proof of Medicare Part B eligibility.For more information, call Joan Fernandez at 815-780-4618.

OGLESBY - Cookie sale
Cookie Kingdom in Oglesby will hold its annual cookie sale from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Oct.  13 through 17. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Cops for Cancer.

STREATOR- Fall Frenzy of Savings
Support small buisnesses. STREATOR- Red Cross Blood Drive
Streator High School Student Council is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive Friday, Oct. 17 at the high school in the “Pops” Dale Gymnasium from 8– 1:30 p.m. A Photo ID is required of those giving blood. Students who are least 16 years old may sign up to donate blood in the Commons during lunch the periods . Any student that is 16 years old will need a form signed by a parent or guardian or they will not be able to donate. Please remember to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water prior to donating. Walk-ins are welcome, but must sign in through the main office. MENDOTA- Oktoberfest Beer and Wine Testing
First State Bank's Relay for Life team is hosting an Oktoberfest beer & wine tasting the Mendota Golf Course on Oct. 18th from 5-9 p.m.  Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.  Your ticket includes a tasting mug, German food and your tastings.  There will also be live music, 50/50 and silent auction.  Tickets can be purchased at First State Bank in Mendota or Peru. 

UTICA-Annual Harvest Bazaar
On Oct. 18 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Waltham Presbyterian Church, 809 N 3450th Rd., in Utica will be holding the Annual Harvest Bazaar. The holidays are coming, shop with your favorite vendors. Plus, beautiful holiday decor, table arrangements and country rustic décor will be featured and must see’s! Raffle provided by our vendors. in downtown Peru will be hosting the 3rd annual Bake Sale from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18. All proceeds raised will benefit Horizon Hourse of Illinois Valley.

TONICA- Trivia Night
Tonica Fire Department is hosting a Trivia Night to benefit Tonica Grade School on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m. There will be a 50/50, baskets, and food. Cost is $10 per person, teams of 8. Call Kari at (815)488-2557 to reserve your table. 

STREATOR- Pork Chop & Haluski Dinner
There wil be a Pork Chop and Haluski Dinner Sunday, Oct. 19 at V.F.W, 305 E. Hickory St. Streator,from 4-7 p.m. Prices are $9.00 and $3.00 for extra. Also, carry-outs are available for $.50 extra. PRINCETON- Illinois Valley Toy Run
Princeton Lions Club will be hosting the 10th annual Illinois Valley Toy Run Sunday Oct. 19 at Soldiers & Sailors Park on S. Main St. in Princeton starting at 10 a.m.The entry fee will be a $10 new and unwrapped toy for either boy or girl at any age. LASALLE- Free Amplified Phones
Free amplified phones are available through the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation program (ITAC). Qualified individuals must be legal residents of Illinois, have a doctor’s or audiologist’s signature verifying hearing loss, and have standard phone service in the residence. There are no age or income restrictions.An Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 21 9– 3:30. Call now to schedule an appointment or request an application. Walk-in's are welcome but appointments are preferred. Please note you can come any day to see us about receiving a phone. To get your application for a free phone, call the Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living or (IVCIL) at (815) 224-3126. STREATOR-Halloween Carnival
On Oct. 22 there will be a Halloween Carnival at Center from 6:30- 8 p.m. There will be Halloween games, pumpkin decorations and games. Wear a costume and receive free tickets for games and for every non perishable food item you bring you receive free game tickets. Extra game tickets are .25 each and decorate a pumpkin for $1.00 and keep pumpkin. Concessions available and for children through 4th grade.

SPRING VALLEY- Annual Fall Bake Sale

TONICA- Pancake, Sausage & Egg Breakfast
St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at Leonore will hold a Pancake, Sausage and Egg breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 8 a.m.- noon. Adults are $7, children (5-7) $2, chikdren 4 and under are free. There will also be a bake sale and 50/50 drawing. 

ARLINGTON- St. Patrick Annual Smorgasbord & Bake Sale
St. Patrick Annual Smorgasbord & Bake Sale
sponsored by St. Patrick Church Altar & Rosary Society, Arlington, is Sunday, Nov. 2. Serving is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bishop Franz Hall. The menu is turkey/dressing or ham, mashed potatoes/gravy, vegetables, salads, dessert and beverage. Adults are $8.00; children under 12 $3.00; and children under 5 are free. Dinner tickets and raffle tickets purchased at the door. Carry-outs are available. There is a raffle drawing at 1 p.m. for a home-made quilt. Also a door prize will be given.

GRANVILLE- Pancake & Sausage Breakfast
Pancakes and home made sausage will be served at the Sacred Heart Church Hall in Granvilleon Sunday, Nov. 9 from 7 a.m. - noon. Carry-outs are also available. Donations are for Adults $7, and Children $4. The Holy Name sponsors this annual breakfast and uses the profits for Church and community purposes. Sausage will also be at the Sacred Heart Church Hall in Granville after 2 p.m.  on Thursday, Nov. 6. MENDOTA- The Twentieth Annual Carry-Out Chicken Dinner
The Mendota High School Music Department Presents The Twentieth Annual Carry-Out Chicken Dinner Friday, Nov. 14. Prices are $8.00 per dinner and $5.00 for an extra quarter. Dinner includes 1/4 fried chicken (cooked by the Optimist Club), baked potato, cole slaw, and a dinner roll. Tickets are available from any Mendota High School band or choir student. Free delivery is available for senior citizens who reside within the city limits. The order deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 28. New this year! Orders are to be picked up at the Mendota Lion's Club Den at the Mendota Fairgrounds from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m.

MENDOTA - Trick-or-treat
Children in costume are invited to Trick-or-Treat Mendota businesses and shops from 3 until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Parents are reminded to have their children look for the orange poster with a picture of "bats" on the door for those businesses participating. The signs say "Trick-or-Treat Here Friday, Oct. 31, from 3 until 5 p.m."

SENICA-21st Annual Fall Festival of Wines
There will be over 100 Wines from Around the Worl Friday, Nov. 7 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Senica's Oak Ridge.
100% of the ticket proceeds benefit the LaSalle & Peru Fire Departments. Advanced Donation $20. This festival is sponsored by Rudy's Liquors.

SANDWICH- 35th Annual Christmas in the Country
The 35th Annual Christmas in the Country Arts and Crafts Show will be Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m- 4p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Sandwich High School, Sandwich Middle School and Lynn Haskins Grade School. Lunch will be served, there will be door prizes and 150 crafters. There is a $3 admission to benefit the Sandwich School Music Association and there will be a shuttle bus service between schools. There is no stollers allowed.

PRINCETON- Health Screening Offered
Perry Memorial Hospital is offering a Health Screening on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 6:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the White Oak Classroom. A Lipid Profile test, which includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides will be offered at $25. The following other tests will also be offered: Chemistry Profile for $31, Thyroid-TSH for $23, and Hemogram for $9. All tests except the Hemogram and Thyroid-TSH require a 12 hour fasting. Pre-registration is required. Please bring physician’s name and address to the screening. Tests cannot be completed without this information. Juice and coffee will be available. LOCKPORT- 44th Annual Old Canal Days Festival
The 44th annual Old Canal Days Festival, including the annual Arts & Crafts Show will be held on Saturday & Sunday, June 20 & 21, 2015. The juried arts & crafts  is on Saturday the 20th 10-5 p.m. and Sunday the 21st 10-4 p.m. Booth fees are $100 for standard and $120 for a corner.
